Stress Reduction

Learning to play an instrument is a great way to reduce one's stress. After a difficult day, there is great comfort through the simple and ordered system of a piano keyboard. Whether practicing or simply playing for pleasure, it will not take long to immerse oneself in the music. After which, the stresses and cares of the world are soon forgotten and the music's pure melody and harmony are what matter. Current studies show the effects on cortisol levels of playing the piano and compared these to participating in other creative activities. Other creative activities did lead to decreased levels of cortisol, piano playing however, was found to significantly be more effective than the other activities.
